FILTHY FLAMINGO

Chap 2
I had high expectations for chapter 2, I had heard my classmates in class saying that chap 2 was a masterpiece, but for me it wasn’t as surprising. The chapter was incredibly entertaining and well written, but I guess the time change and war theme didn’t captivate me.
Nevertheless, there were some things that did attract my attention; first the fact that he became rich was amazing, because that is a fortunate event inside an unfortunate life. I do and always will aim for success and I have to accept I measure success by earnings; so being rich would be probably very satisfactory.
While reading I was reminded of the movie “A flew over the cuckoos nest”, the story develops in a mental hospital, really good movie, I relate it with the book because Billy starts making this statements about being kidnapped by aliens and what not, and he would be peculiar in the movie he would fit in somebody who just needs to be heard and is just a bit crazy. In addition, the daughter threatening her father with an elders home was to much, it made me angry,  seeing someone be so arrogant with the people that supplied for them through their life time.

I was reading during a family reunion, so people kept asking me, what are you reading? so I noticed that the title of the book is very rare it has an impact on people, they make more questions because of it. It is a violent book, the image of soldiers in the cold without a pair of shoes was horrid, but not a slaughterhouse not the story people wait to hear when you tell them the book's title.

The book did accomplish the difficult task of transporting me to a movie like dimension, in which I could imagine what the author was describing, despite my screaming cousins in the background. So I applaud the author for that, the book was enjoyable in that sense, though I couldn’t relate to the chapter much.
I most point out like I did last chapter the use of language Vonnegut says “filthy flamingo” when describing Billy in contrast to a "real" soldier. It was funny captured my attention and again makes the reader feel like his reading something written by a friend.
