Life and the maze of golf

One particular thing that caught my attention, was how the guards react to the Americans. They where used to Russian prisoners. They act nervous as if they doubted their own abilities to control how Americans would react. I noticed this because I have been new in school twice and I know the feeling of not knowing what to expect of a persons reaction. I related to that part of the book.

I would associate chapter 4 with "La vita è bella" an Italian movie about war, the movie has great scenery and it helps me imagine what Billy was seeing during war.

The author gives us scoops to Billy's tastes.  A more complex description of who Billy is. In chapter 4 he states that Billy plays golf. That immediately made me think of my dad. Thinking about my dad and associating him to Billy made me sad. I realized life becomes very monotonous, one starts to live of memories and routines. Doing the same 3 things you love and not looking for anything else. Like my dad with golf, he decided one day that Golf is the only thing that makes him happy. He is trapped on a maze that compels him to play golf, and makes him loose interest in anything/everything else. We had to start planning our vacations around the great golf courses in the world. Billy is the kind of person that lives trapped in the memories and routines specially because he time travels.

Side note: EDGAR DERBY... I can see him acting in the movie I have in my head. From the book talked since my second reading blog here "slaughterhouse five". I can see him being brad Pitt, 40 year old, great body, American and blond, perfect! But then Derby dies and it would be such a waste to have brad Pitt die so quickly.
